Musculoskeletal physiotherapy

Focused care for pain, injury, and movement.
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Care that supports everyday function

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy treats pain and injuries affecting the muscles, joints, pelvis and spine. Using targeted, evidence-based treatment, we help improve strength, reduce pain and support movement of people of all ages. Care is focused, personalised, and designed to offer a safe, confident recovery.

Treatments we provide

Hands-on therapy

Manual techniques are used to assess joint and soft-tissue restrictions and to support movement and comfort.

Movement retraining

Movement retraining focuses on improving how the body moves to reduce strain and support more efficient movement patterns.

Rehabilitation exercises

Exercises are tailored to individual needs to support strength, control, and a gradual return to activity.

Dry needling

Dry needling uses fine needles inserted into tight muscles to reduce tension and pain by targeting trigger points.

Supportive devices

Devices, such as pelvic belts, may be suggested to provide additional stability and support movement.

Passive devices

Electrotherapy, shockwave therapy, and biofeedback support pain relief, tissue recovery, and awareness of muscle activity.

Clinical pilates

Specialised Pilates machines support controlled, low-impact exercise to improve strength and movement control.

How musculoskeletal treatment works

Assessment and diagnosis

Your appointment begins with a thorough examination to understand your symptoms, movement, and contributing factors.

Personalised treatment plan

A treatment plan is developed based on your needs, goals, and stage of recovery, with care planned to support comfort throughout.

Treatment

Care begins with treatments such as manual therapy, guided exercise, and other techniques, as appropriate.

Common questions about musculoskeletal physiotherapy

A referral isn’t required to book an appointment, and you’re welcome to book directly with a physiotherapist. If you do have a referral from a doctor or specialist, you can bring it along, particularly if it’s needed for insurance purposes.

Your health insurance may require a referral for you to claim, please check before you come.  If you have a referral, you can bring to the appointment.

Session length varies by service and your individual needs. Time is set aside for both diagnosis and treatment, and this can be clarified when you book.
How often treatment is recommended depends on your concerns, goals, and recovery stage. This will be discussed after your initial consultation, so the plan feels appropriate and manageable.
Many patients are able to claim physiotherapy sessions through private or international health insurance. It’s a good idea to check your policy details before your appointment.
