A Personalised Approach to Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to healthcare that considers how the human body’s muscles, joints, connective tissues, and movement patterns work together. At Spine & Pelvis Clinic, we tailor osteopathic manual therapy to your symptoms, current movement, and health history.
We see adults and children experiencing acute or chronic pain, movement restrictions, sports injuries, or other concerns affecting the spine, pelvis, hips, and joints. Thanks to our particular focus on women’s health, our osteopathic care may also support women through pregnancy and the postpartum period, including pregnancy-related back and pelvic girdle pain.

How Osteopathy May Support Your Movement
Osteopathic treatment takes a whole-body approach, considering the relationship between different areas of the body rather than focusing solely on where you feel discomfort.
It may assist to:
Improve Joint Mobility
Hands-on techniques may help address restrictions in joint movement and support more comfortable mobility.
Ease Muscle and Soft Tissue Tension
Manual techniques may address areas of muscular and soft tissue tension that often contribute to discomfort or restricted movement.
Support Spinal and Pelvic Function
Treatment may be tailored to concerns affecting the spine, pelvis, and hips, considering how these areas work together.
Encourage Better Movement
Your treatment may include movement guidance and rehabilitation strategies alongside hands-on therapy to support how you move in everyday life.
Support Pregnancy and Post-Partum Comfort
Gentle, individualised techniques may be adapted to the changing needs of pregnancy and the post-partum period, particularly for musculoskeletal and pelvic concerns.

Your Osteopathy Questions Answered
What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a hands-on approach that considers the relationship between the body’s muscles, joints, connective tissues, and movement. Osteopathic treatment may use techniques such as soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation, muscle energy techniques, and myofascial release.
What may an osteopath help with?
Osteopathy may be appropriate for a range of musculoskeletal concerns, including back and neck pain, headaches, hip and pelvic conditions, joint and sports injury management, and pregnancy-related musculoskeletal discomfort. At Spine & Pelvis Clinic, we also offer osteopathic manual therapy for children.
Is osteopathy suitable during pregnancy?
Osteopathic treatment can usually be adapted to the changing needs of pregnancy. Kim has a particular interest in pregnancy-related pelvic girdle and back pain, and uses appropriate manual techniques according to each individual’s circumstances. If you have a complex or high-risk pregnancy, speak with your healthcare provider about whether osteopathic care is appropriate for you.
What happens during my first osteopathy appointment?
Your first appointment includes an assessment of your symptoms, current level of movement, and relevant health history. Your osteopath will discuss their findings with you before developing an individualised treatment plan. If appropriate, treatment may begin during the same appointment.
Does osteopathy involve spinal manipulation?
Not necessarily. Osteopathy encompasses a range of hands-on techniques, and your treatment will depend on your symptoms, assessment, and individual preferences. Techniques may include soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, muscle energy techniques, and other manual approaches.
How many osteopathy sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. Your treatment frequency will depend on your individual concerns, overall goals, and response to treatment. Your practitioner can discuss an appropriate approach with you following your assessment.
Can osteopathy be combined with physiotherapy?
In many cases, yes. As a physiotherapy-led osteopathic centre, we may combine different treatment approaches (such as physiotherapy and osteopathy) as part of an individualised care plan.
Is osteopathy suitable for children?
Osteopathic manual therapy is often available for children, with treatment adapted to their age, development, and individual needs. If you’re considering osteopathic care in support of your child’s health, our team can discuss whether the service may be appropriate before treatment.
